Meet the girl behind the blog
My name is Katelyn Landerman. I am currently a senior at Saint Norbert College where I major in Elementary Education and minor in Early Childhood. My first placement for student teaching is at Altmayer Elementary School in De Pere working with 4th graders, and my second placement is at Swanson School in New Zealand working with five year olds. I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in 3rd grade. It has been a passion for me to work with children for as long as I can remember. I want to be able to make an impact on the lives of others, and constantly be learning new information along the way. Student teaching is finally here and I could not be more ready and excited to watch my students grow in their learning.
"I touch the future. I teach."
WHY GO ABROAD???
By going abroad I will be able to adapt to a different culture and lifestyle. I have always wanted to travel the world. To be able to travel the world and teach is a dream come true for me. When researching different countries, New Zealand felt like it would be the right fit. From their beautiful beaches, to their diverse culture, it is going to be an amazing life experience. Not only the physical features but the fact that I get to make an impact on the lives of others half way across the world is something I can't even express into words.
Professional Goals: As a teacher the most important rule of thumb to remember is that each individual student learns information in a different way. Going into a new school with new standards, and ideas will give me a chance to see education through a completely different set of eyes. I will be able to seek different ways in which to educate children and implement lesson plans and activities. I look forward to learning new teaching techniques and observing how classrooms are organized and ran in a different country. As a teacher we are constantly learning, and by going to New Zealand it is my goal to gain new knowledge that helps me to become the best educator I can be.
Lastly, I hope to make connections that will last a lifetime.
